The school calendar will be assigned upon hiring. Central Office Hours are Monday-Thursday 8:15 a.m. -3:45 p.m., Friday 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
The salary is commensurate with experience, and salary and benefits are regionally competitive.
Responsibilities:
Enhance the educational and developmental potential of students with developmental and/or physical impairments within their educational environment.
To assume the responsibility for evaluating students and establishing treatment programs for students who require occupational therapy services at school.
OT must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively, have great organizational and planning skills, and be reliable.
To participate as a team member with the certified occupational therapist assistant (COTA), local school district personnel, other disciplines, and central office staff, as well as work in collaboration with team members to implement best practice approaches for functional educational outcomes.
To provide in-service programs on occupational therapy, when necessary.
The OT supervisor and the Director will assign specific job responsibilities based on the job description.

School Social Worker
School Social Worker full-time position
Responsibilities: School Social Workers at FJSPED collaborate with school staff and parents to assess students' social skills and emotional well-being. They consult with other professionals and community agencies to provide services to students. School Social Workers also provide direct clinical treatment and respond to crises in member districts. The School Social Work team participates in many learning opportunities and professional development each school year.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in school social work from an accredited institution.

Paraprofessional/Aide
Full-time position for a Paraprofessional/Aide for Franklin and Jefferson Counties Special Education District #801. Submit application and paraprofessional certification with IEIN (if attained).

Sesser-Valier Location:
We have an open position for a program aide at a FJSPED special education program located in Sesser-Valier School District. The program focuses on serving students with intellectual disabilities, those on the autism spectrum, communication disorders, and developmental delays. The program is designed to increase daily living skills and functional skills for students with significant intellectual disabilities, and to
teach age and developmental level appropriate academic, social, and behavioral skills.
Christopher Location:
This program focuses on serving students with social-emotional delays. It is designed to teach students social, emotional, and related skills, attitudes, behaviors, and values that enable them to be successful in school. Self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making are the guiding principles utilized to promote academic and functional success in kindergarten through 4th grade students.
Mt. Vernon Location:
The program in Mt. Vernon serves students from 2nd to 12th grade. The program is designed to teach better self-regulation and emotional and behavioral control skills. The program works to create a safe environment for learning and growing. We utilize a point system so students can earn points for “good behavior” and then spend it in our “store”. Social-emotional skills are a priority here, and staff works one-on-one or with groups of kids throughout the day.
Summersville Location:
We have 2 classes at Summersville for students in K-4 and 5-8 grades. These programs are designed to teach key academic and social skills to students on the Autism Spectrum or with other communication disorders. The focus is on meeting each child at their level and building communication and life skills within an academic setting. Sensory needs, structured activities, and adequate socialization are important in this program.
The pay starts at Step 1 on our salary schedule, at $18,695 a year (180 days) for the school year (August– May). Applicants with a Bachelor’s Degree or specialized training receive a increased starting wage. 15 sick days and 3 personal days are allotted at the beginning of each school year. $693 per month in insurance benefits.

School Psychologist
Permanent School Psychology positions open on the FJSPED School Psychology team. School Psychologists at FJSPED work collaboratively with school staff and parents to assess student skills, develop and implement interventions, and improve multi-tiered systems of support for struggling students from ages pre-k to 21. School Psychologists consult with school staff on behavior, academic, and social emotional interventions and data collection. The School Psychology team participates in a multitude of learning opportunities and professional development throughout each school year, often including attending NASP Conferences, ISPA Conferences, Special Education Law workshops, Behavior Modification workshops, Trauma workshops, and more. Opportunity to join the Behavior Team exists.
Illinois School Psychology Professional Educator License or coursework toward license is required.

SPECIAL EDUCATION (LBS1) TEACHER
We are seeking a candidate to fill a 120-day position for the 24-25 school year. Staff members are completing their student teaching experience this year, and this position will be available while they complete the certification process. The candidate will mentor our staff and perform daily classroom teaching duties. Our program in Franklin County has approximately five students with developmental disabilities or autism. Multiple program assistants help with individual student needs and other classroom tasks. A supervisor is assigned to oversee the program and provide IEP writing assistance.
